Report of our first training session in Rwanda

Our team was at HVP Gatagara from 3 till 10 march 2018:  we have a collaboration agreement with this network for physically disabled persons in order to improve services in the community and to empower those in need at community level. The national CBR committee of Rwanda has chosen 5 districts in the country to develop pilot programs: in 2 out of 5 districts CBR Team International will be the strategic partner.

This first training session was the start of a training cycle of 1.5 years. We trained 6 field workers, 8 CBR managers, and 1 CBR coordinator. We introduced a new evaluation and monitoring system, we worked intensively with the beneficiaries to learn from their needs, and we conducted a role play in self help groups and sensitisation campaigns.

Thanks to Rosette, Gaspard, Joseph, Chantal, Placidie and Claudine we will be touching about 1200 people with a disability !

Ons team was van 3 tot 10 maart 2018 bij HVP Gatagara  we hebben een samenwerkingsovereenkomst met dit netwerk voor lichamelijk gehandicapten om de dienstverlening in de gemeenschap te verbeteren en mensen in nood op gemeenschapsniveau te helpen. Het nationale CBR-comité van Rwanda heeft 5 districten in het land uitgekozen om pilootprogramma’s te ontwikkelen: in 2 van de 5 districten zal CBR Team International de strategische partner zijn.

Deze eerste training was het begin van een opleidingscyclus van 1,5 jaar. We hebben 6 veldwerkers, 8 CBR-managers en 1 CBR-coördinator opgeleid. We introduceerden een nieuw evaluatie- en monitoringsysteem, we werkten intensief samen met de patiënten om te leren van hun behoeften en we speelden een rol in zelfhulpgroepen en sensibiliseringscampagnes.

Dankzij Rosette, Gaspard, Jozef, Chantal, Placidie en Claudine zullen we ongeveer 1200 mensen met een handicap bereiken!
